Posts and alerts

Share news with residents, send urgent alerts, notify an area and ask questions with polls.

How posts work

Posts are short updates that appear in your city's Feed, in the Peny app and on your city's Peny site. You write posts in the post composer: open Feed in the sidebar and click the + button (New post).

Every post has a Priority that tells residents how urgent it is. When you publish, Peny notifies the residents who follow the post's topic. Emergency and Critical alert posts go to every resident.

Which priority should I use?

You choose the priority in the composer, under Priority.

  • Standard — normal priority. Everyday news and reminders.
  • Important — medium priority. Significant updates. Use it sparingly.
  • Emergency — highest priority. Urgent situations that need residents' immediate attention.
  • Critical alert — overrides Do Not Disturb on residents' phones. Only for life-threatening or urgent public-safety issues. Only city admins can send one.

For Emergency and Critical alert posts, read Send an emergency alert before you publish.
