Poll block

Ask residents a question right on a website page.

What it's for

The Poll block puts a poll on a page so residents can vote without leaving it — for example, a park amenities poll on the Parks page. It shows the same poll card residents see in the feed.

Add it to a page

Who can do this: City admins, in the website builder.

You need at least one open poll, or you can create one as you go.

Don't see this? It may not be turned on for your city yet — email support@penyapp.com.

  1. In the left sidebar, open Content › City Pages.
  2. Find the page and click Edit. The page opens in the builder.
  3. In the Add blocks panel on the left, find Poll under Dynamic. You can also type "Poll" in Search blocks.
  4. Drag Poll onto the page where you want it. Or select the block it should follow and click Poll to add it right below — with nothing selected, it goes at the end of the page.
  5. The new block is selected and its settings appear in the Settings panel on the right.
  6. Click Edit settings in the Settings panel (or double-click the block). The Add poll window opens. The block shows "Pick a poll" until you choose one.
  7. Pick a poll from the list (use Search polls to find one), then click Add poll. Or click Create poll to make a new one.
  8. Your changes save as a draft as you go. Residents see them after you click Publish — or Ready for review, if your city reviews page changes.

Settings

In the side panel

The Poll block has no side-panel settings.

In the Edit popup (Add poll)

  • Search polls — Finds polls by their question or answer options.
  • The poll list — Your open polls, newest first. Closed polls aren't listed. Click one, then click Add poll.
  • Create poll — Opens the poll builder so you can make a new poll right here. See Ask residents with a poll for the poll settings. The new poll is attached to the block.

To switch to a different poll, click Edit settings again and pick another.

Draft polls are published with the page

If the poll you add is still a draft — including one you just made with Create poll — it's published automatically when you publish the page. Until then, residents don't see it.

What residents see

The poll card: the question, the answer options and a vote button. Residents need to log in to vote ("Log in to vote"), and only residents of your city can vote. The block keeps showing the poll after it closes.

Tips

  • Add a sentence above the poll (in a Rich Text block) explaining why you're asking and when it closes.
  • You can add the same poll to a post to reach residents in the feed too. It's one poll, so all votes count together.
  • Check phones: click the Mobile preview button above the canvas.
