Change your site's appearance

Set your brand color, logo, social share image, footer and city tidbits.

What it's for

Appearance & Settings controls the look and the shared parts of your public website: the brand color, the logo, the image shown when pages are shared, the footer and more. These settings apply to every page.

Before you start

  • City admins can change these settings.
  • Changes go live as soon as you click Save or upload an image. There's no separate publish step.
  • Each page's large header photo is set in that page's Hero block, not here. See Hero block.

Open Appearance & Settings

  1. In the left sidebar, open Content and click City Pages.
  2. Click the Appearance & Settings tab.
  3. If you manage more than one city, click Edit appearance → next to the city.

Set your brand color

Buttons, links and accents on your public website use the brand color.

  1. Under Brand color, pick a color. Peny blue (default) is the starting color.
  2. Click Save.

Text in your brand color has to be readable on white. If the color is too light, Peny shows This brand color is hard to read with a suggested alternative:

  • Use suggested color saves the darker suggestion.
  • Keep my color saves your color anyway.
  • Cancel goes back without saving.

Change the logo, app image or social share image

  1. Find the image section you want.
  2. Click Upload photo, or Replace photo if there's one already.
  3. Choose the image file.

The image saves as soon as you choose it. Click Remove to take an image away.

  • Logo — shown in your public website's header and footer. Without a logo, the site uses your app image.
  • App image (avatar) — your city's profile image in the Peny app. It's also the website's browser tab icon, and the fallback for the logo and social share image. Square works best.
  • Social share image — shown when someone shares one of your pages on social media. 1200×630 pixels is recommended.

Edit the footer

The footer runs along the bottom of every page.

  1. Under Footer, fill in Emergency number and Non-emergency number.
  2. Fill in Terms of use URL and Privacy policy URL if you have them.
  3. Click Save.

Add resource links

  1. Under Resource links, type a Name.
  2. Enter the URL.
  3. Click Add.

You can have up to 6 resource links. Click Remove to take one away. To change a link's URL, remove it and add it again.

Add a contact link to the AI disclaimer

Your website's search shows a short AI disclaimer. You can add a link to it, such as your contact page.

  1. Under AI disclaimer link, type the Link text, for example our contact form.
  2. Enter the Link.
  3. Click Save.

The phone number and email in the disclaimer come from your account settings. See City account settings.

Add city tidbits

City tidbits are short facts about your city. Residents see them while Ask Peny is thinking.

  1. Under City tidbits, type a fact, for example Our city was founded in 1859.
  2. Click Add.

Click Deactivate to stop showing a tidbit without deleting it, and Activate to show it again. Click Remove to delete it.

Tips

  • Check your site in a browser after changing the brand color or logo.
  • Pick a social share image without small text. It's often shown small.
